First day of school

On the first day of school, my room was flooded with students. Funny thing is, I am a music teacher, not a classroom teacher, so how did that happen? The kids who are alumni came back to visit. It made me feel very JOYful to see their shining, happy faces. I can't wait for tomorrow when I get to meet my Kindergartners for the first time, and get to see all of my students and some new students! Glad to be back in full swing! Looking forward to a great year!

Attention all Trinity School Drummers (and wanna be drummers!)

Drumers! Have you wanted to learn more in class, but found we just don't have the time? Here is a website I found that gives you free drum lessons! I think you should all check it out and then show me what you learned from it! http://www.freedrumlessons.com

First Blog ever!

How exciting, this is my first blog! I just hope that someone else reads these posts, other than myself!

Keeping this updated is going to be a challenge! I will make it a point to make this the first thing I do before I even check my email. So, keep looking to see if there is something new! Especially look for homework assignments (upper grades, mostly). I will try and have a category for each class that I teach. Look for the music schedule (church singing and playing dates) on the schools website: http://www.trinityct.org/ and make sure to put those dates on your calendar!

This year in music, we are going to be focusing hard on the band program. With a little more focus and a special program that. I have established, this year is sure to bring the band back up to speed. When you dedicate your entire masters program research project to making one class better, your program is sure to grow! Band parents: BEWARE! There is some serious practicing that is going to be happening this year! Get ready to buy some ear plugs! (Percussion parents especially!) Please look for a letter that describes what my masters program project is all about! And if they are not practicing, let me know asap! Communication is what it is all about!

Thanks for reading my very first blog! I hope to hear a response from a lot of people, so I know others are reading what I am writing!

Let's have a GREAT year of music!!

God Bless!
